Many tweets of Amazon employees considered by the company as " ambassadors " have appeared for over a year. All praiseworthy, they serve to change the image of the giant online business, often attacked on Twitter, especially because of its working conditions.

These are American, Italian, Polish, English, German or French employee accounts. They all look the same: a name followed by the words " ambassador FC for Fulfillment Center " (Amazon's warehouses) and the emoji of a small box.

And all do more or less the same thing, sing the praises of Amazon's working conditions with loud exclamation points and smiling smileys, and without much nuance, so much so that some Internet users first suspected them of to be robots .

Discovered a year ago , they all have the same goal: defend the Amazon company, often attacked on social networks for its poor working conditions.

On the accounts of French ambassadors, we can see tweets evoking the personal enrichment to be used in Amazon warehouses: " My experience at Amazon is full of discoveries in everyday life, " says an ambassador named Cyril.

Wow, I had not seen this slide system for parcels like on this German website. My experience at Amazon is full of daily discovery 👏 👏 👏 pic.twitter.com/cAhCwjPmGW

A certain Magdalena writes: " Some people succeed because they are determined just like me, but Amazon contributes a lot thanks to the" career choice ". Proud to be Amazonian . "

Attacks on the unions

The Ambassadors also highlight the entertainment offered by Amazon: as a karaoke lunch, an incentive to dress up in the workplace or the distribution of music in the parking lot.

To read these tweets, Amazon would look like a holiday club, when the French unions rather evoke a management infantilisant. Unions that are sometimes the target of these " ambassadors of Amazon ".

For example, Janet, who defended Amazon's hourly rates, was often singled out for saying " unions are thieves ".

The working conditions of the Amazon FC are indicative of typical warehouse work. It is very physical work indeed. $ 15 to start w / good benefits. Unions are thieves. https://t.co/Vj3XEr28dG

Tweets in exchange for gift cards

According to Chris Grantham , a former Amazon employee who has been an ambassador, employees who offer to positively tweet about their working conditions get a gift card: a lunch, or a paid day off. to be taken within three weeks.

It is always according to his testimony an activity on a voluntary basis, which makes it possible to escape the most painful tasks for a few hours a week.

It is clear with these ambassadors that Amazon values posts on the networks of its employees that she considers positive for her image, but she could also punish employees for their posts on social networks.

This was particularly the case in France with employees dismissed for having expressed on their personal Facebook pages their support for the movement of "yellow vests" which planned to block the Amazon factory.
