  • Message in a bottle from Spain to Russia: the unexpected result of a bottle message that a four-year-old girl sent

Tyler Ivanoff collected firewood in Shishmaref , Alaska, when he found something much more interesting: a bottle with a message dating from June 1969 , and he wanted a "happy navigation" to the one who found it.

As he could not decipher the message, which is in Russian, Ivanoff posted an image of the bottle and the letter on his Facebook, asking for help to translate the text. Thanks to the collaboration of the users, he quickly got to know the content of the text.

"Sincere regards! From the mother ship VRXF Sulak of the Russian Far East Fleet," the message reads. " We wish you good health and many years of life and happy navigation. June 20, 1969."

Ivanoff, lumberjack and school assistant, found the bottle earlier this month on the coast near his town, and took out the plastic cap with his teeth . "It was still dry inside and still smelled like wine or whatever, alcohol old. The note was dry, "he told the local Alaska newspaper The Nome Nugget .

But the stoy did not end there. Rossiya 1 , a Russian television network, tracked the message by the sender's address in Vladivostok, Russia , until he reached a captain removed from the Soviet ship that now lives in Crimea.

Anatoly Botsanenko , the author of the message, was interviewed on television in his military uniform. The captain reported that he served in the Sulak in 1969 when he was 35 years old. At first, when he looked at the message in an image of a mobile phone, he did not recognize his letter but did recognize his old house in Vladivostok on the return address.

"It's great how a small photo became a story, " Ivanoff uploaded on Facebook after the outcome was announced.
