Today (18th), a fire broke out at a waste plastic recycling plant in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do. No one was injured, but it was difficult to extinguish because of the toxic gases and black smoke from 200 tons of plastic.

At 4:50 am, a fire broke out at a waste plastic recycling plant in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do.

Seven employees who worked at the factory after the fire broke out and no one was injured.

The fire authorities, who arrived at the scene within 10 minutes after being notified of the report, issued a second phase of response at about 6:10 am and dispatched three helicopters, 70 vehicles, and 220 firefighters to the firefighting operation.

Five hours after the fire, a big fire was caught, but there are still black smoke leaking out from all over the fire, and there are still red flames.

The fire went out completely around 10:20 am. One 860-square-meter building on the 1st floor and 200 tons of waste plastic were burned and damaged more than 2 billion won in property estimated at the fire station.

Nearly 10 cases of 119 reports were received at one time, as black smoke containing toxic gases spread around the site.

Fire authorities believe the fire that started at the factory's outdoor yard where plastics were piled up spread to nearby buildings.

Police and fire departments will conduct precise identification as soon as the fire is cleared.
