Died Nobel Laureate in Chemistry Carey Mullis


American biochemist Carey Mullis, who received the Nobel Prize in chemistry for discovering a simple and cheap method of DNA analysis, died at the age of 75. It is reported by the New York Times.

According to the wife of scientist Nancy Cosgrove Mullis, he died on August 7 at his home in Newport Beach, California, due to complications of pneumonia.

Mullis, along with British scientist Mike Smith, became Nobel laureates in chemistry in 1993.

In March, the Russian physicist, Nobel laureate Zhores Alferov died.
