The prosecutor's office in Nice has opened an investigation, entrusted in particular to the IGPN, after the death Sunday evening in Menton of an SDF armed with a knife, killed by a police officer during an intervention.
The facts occurred Sunday night in a public park in Menton where the victim, aged about fifty years and Belgian nationality, was trying to end his life, reported the prosecutor's office, confirming information Nice Matin .
A first shot with an electric impulse pistol
The man had repeatedly cut the veins of both arms, the back of the ankles and throat, when the police and rescue tried to intervene. The police tried, in vain, to parley to make him let go of his knife, before firing with the electric impulse pistol. This shot did not neutralize the SDF, said the floor.
The man then got up and went to a policeman. "A second policeman used his service weapon twice", touching him mortally, pursued the prosecution. The helpers, already present on the spot, tried in vain to revive him. The investigation was entrusted to the judicial police of Nice and the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN).
