The glossary of new terms related to gender never appears to end. Better, so we exercise our memory and prepare our cognitiveness for new unsuspected angles. The concept we have today and that we will have to assimilate this time is TERF , an acronym for " trans-exclusionary radical feminist "; for those less given to English: Radical Trans Feminism Excluded .

The human being has a great capacity to discriminate against others. And one might think that, among them, discriminated minorities would learn, as discriminated as they are, and stop discriminating (difficult tongue twisters), but not.

What is TERF?

Basically, TERF encompasses that group within feminism - at least that is what it is called - that fights for equality with another kind of perspective. Since TERFs tend to exclude, specifically, transgender people who were born with a male body but who identify themselves as women . This discriminatory condition of Radical Trans Excluder Feminism, naturally, has led to conflicts with the most mainstream of feminism.

The specific expression of TERF does not enjoy much esteem and has been marred by negative dyes, so it has also been called, for some time now, by the so-called Critical Gender Feminism or RadFem .

Despite its impact in the early days of social networks, TERF is a branch within feminism that has been hanging from the tree for quite some years now. It emerged in the 70s and has always maintained a small number of adherents, enough to reach even today. Days when a majority within feminism considers them totally outside of it and its ideals of tolerance and equality.

From the point of view of the TERF only a woman who was born biologically with female genitalia suffers the ravages of patriarchy and deserves liberation. That leaves out transgenders and transsexuals , who have not had all the experiences that a woman can accumulate so they are not admitted either in their club or in the fight itself. "Feminism for real women," they could say briefly and hypothetically. Although this implies a contradiction with one of the maxims of feminism: "Feminism is gender equality."
