The bells of several dozen pounds of two chapels Ginasservis in the Var were stolen last week, we learned Monday from the mayor. "Nobody believes, the inhabitants think of a hoax," reacted with Hervé Philibert, the mayor of the town. A first inhabitant of the town warned the town hall Friday that the bell of the chapel Saint-Damase had disappeared, said Hervé Philibert. This bell, weighing 80 kilos, dated from 1867.

The town hall has complained to the gendarmerie Rians

In the day of Friday, villagers found that a second bell was stolen, in the chapel of the Penitents, located in a cemetery. This second bell, dating from 1737 and weighing 53 kilos, is classified as an historic monument. The town hall filed a complaint with the Gendarmerie of Rians, and sent a letter from the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (Drac). According to Hervé Philibert, "the bells were removed with delicacy, nothing was broken". The mayor of the municipality of 1,800 inhabitants think that the purpose of the flight is "the resale to a collector".
