A Korean-owned cargo ship that crossed the Straits of Singapore was attacked by a pirate, causing the crew to be assaulted and cash was taken.

According to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fishermen, the South Korean national cargo ship Ceylon Blue Belt (44,131 tons), which was about 100 miles from the mouth of the Malacca Straits at 4:25 am, was attacked by pirates.

"A general cargo ship usually sails less than 15 knots. Pirates riding on speedboats speeding more than 20 knots. Seven pirates came on board to assault sailors and steal their money," a seaman said.

Some seafarers were assaulted by pirates carrying weapons and weapons, but no seamen were injured or seized with bruises, Seo said.

The pirates took $ 13,300 in cash and sailors' belongings, such as cell phones, clothes, and shoes, and they got off the ship in about 30 minutes.

The maritime department said that the damaged cargo ship was on its way to Incheon from Brazil and is continuing to sail after the pirate accident.

An official of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs said, "We spread the situation of the piracy incident to all national security officers and instructed national vessels passing around the accident area to strengthen the border for piracy activity."
