The nuclear power plant and the radioactive waste disposal facility were found to have no effect on the earthquake near the city of Sangju, Gyeongbuk, today (May 21).

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power said, "There is no impact of the earthquake on the nuclear power plant." The power plant currently in operation is in normal operation and there are no nuclear power plants.

The Nuclear Environment Agency also said, "As a result of field inspections, there is no damage to the nuclear facilities and it is operating normally."

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), a 3.9-magnitude earthquake occurred in an area 11 km north-northwest of Sangju.
