Facebook settles for 5 billion dollars (4.4 billion euros) with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the result of a long-term privacy study by the FTC. That says a source with knowledge of the case against the Wall Street Journal .
According to the source, the FTC voted this week on the settlement proposal. The three Republican commissioners voted in favor, the two Democrats voted against.
The settlement would now lie with the US Department of Justice for a final check. It is not customary for the Ministry of Justice to reject a settlement approved by the FTC.
