Federal Family Minister Franziska Giffey (SPD) wants to enforce easily recognizable age recommendations for apps to protect children and young people from dangerous content. "That's a topic we want to address," Giffey told Bild am Sonntag. "We have different ages in the same game, but we have to trust the label."

The labeling requirement is to become part of the new Youth Media Protection Act, which Giffey's Ministry is currently working on. "At the moment, we have a youth protection law that dates back to the age of videotape and CD-ROM," the minister told the newspaper.

The goal is to pass the law in this legislative period. "We're working on that together with the countries," said Giffey. "At the end of the year we want to present a first draft."
