Ski jumper Juliane Seyfarth caused a big surprise at the season opener with her first World Cup victory. The 28-year-old won in Lillehammer, Norway, having never been on the podium before.

With distances of 98.5 and 97 meters and 258.8 points she distanced the Olympic champion Maren Lundby from Norway by 12.6 points. Lundby made the biggest difference of the day with 99.5 meters in the second round. Third was World Cup record winner Sara Takanashi from Japan (240.2 points). Katharina Althaus, Carina Vogt and Ramona Straub were in fourth to sixth place for a good German team result.

"For Juliane it was a milestone in her career, she was often close to the podium, now she has won immediately, which will unleash her powers," said national coach Andreas Bauer.

In difficult conditions with changing wind conditions Seyfarth did everything right. And that, after she was almost eliminated in qualifying on Thursday with 66 meters. "I'm so happy that it finally worked out and I've been working on a lot of technical things in the recent past, which has given me a positive drive," said Seyfarth, who has been winning the 2006 World Youth Championships as the biggest success in had their Vita.
