RB Leipzig is for the first time in club history in the final of the DFB Cup. In the semifinals, the Leipzig 3: 1 (1: 1) prevailed at Hamburger SV. On 25 May (20 clock, TV: ARD, live ticker: SPIEGEL ONLINE) meets RB in the Berlin Olympic Stadium on the winner of the second semi-final between Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich on Wednesday (20:45 clock, TV: ARD, live ticker: SPIEGEL ONLINE ).

With only one defeat in 2019, the Bundesligadritte from Leipzig was the favorite in the game in the second division. Immediately after the start of the game Marcel Sabitzer came from ten meters to the conclusion (1st minute), but failed at Hamburg goalkeeper Julian Pollersbeck. A little later, Yussuf Poulsen headed his team into the lead after a corner kick (12 ').

Only five minutes later, Poulsen hit the post, Timo Werner put the rebound for Sabitzer cross, the ball from an acute angle and a short distance also put the aluminum (16).

Curious equalizer from HSV

At the time it looked like a one-sided game. In the 24th minute, the surprising equalizer for HSV fell: Kevin Kampl was taken by surprise on the sidelines of Bakery Jatta, who picked up speed from the left wing in the direction of Leipzig gate and pulled off from just under 30 meters. RB keeper Péter Gulácsi did not get the ball right and could not prevent the 1-1.

After the equalizer HSV came into play and came before the break to further opportunities by Khaled Narey (42) and Douglas Santos (45). After the restart, however, the guests took the lead again. Kampl lobbed the ball into the Hamburg penalty area to Poulsen, whose cross was steered Vasilije Janjicic into his own goal (53.).

RB took over the control of the game after 2: 1 and let the hosts hardly come out of their own half. Emil Forsberg had the preliminary decision on the foot in the 69th minute, but hit the crossbar. A few moments later he tried again with a low shot - this time the ball hit bottom left to a 3-1 final score (72.).
