Borussia Dortmund have lost the first knockout round of the Champions League at Tottenham Hotspur 0: 3 (0: 0). Heung-Min Son scored after a mistake in the Dortmund construction game and a cross from Jan Vertonghen the opening goal (47th minute). Vertonghen himself scored the 2: 0 and the substitute Fernando Llorente the final score (86).
For the Dortmund it is the fourth competitive game without a win and the third game in a row, in which they conceded three goals. Dortmund was eliminated from the DFB Cup last week.
After the goal Dortmund managed without the injured Marco Reus and Paco Alcácer not to come to the equalizer. Also Tottenham were missing in Harry Kane and Dele Alli two stars. Nevertheless, the Spurs showed a strong offensive performance especially in the second half.
Dortmund convinces in the first half
In the first half Dortmund was still the better team - and had the better goal opportunities. After Tottenham's early chance Lucas Moura (7th), Mario Götze (15th) and Axel Witsel (20th) failed with their shots to Hugo Lloris. The Spurs goalkeeper also saved his team from falling short of half-time as he parried a deflected header from Dan-Axel Zagadou (44 ').
After the break Tottenham became stronger and stronger: After losing the ball during the game Jan Vertonghen crossed the ball from the left side into the middle. Zagadou jumped under the ball, which hit in the middle of free-standing Son directly into the corner (47.).
Dortmund before the end
