Last year's top scorer in Serie A Victor Osimhen has scored three goals in five games in the league this season. When he was substituted in the 0-0 draw against Bologna on Sunday, he gestured to coach Rudi Garcia.
On Tuesday, Napoli posted on their official TikTok account a video mocking Osimhen after missing a penalty in the match. In the video, a mocking voice can be heard saying "Give me punishment, please".
Earlier, a video had also been posted making fun of the player that he is a coconut. Both clips have since been taken down.
"What happened today on Napoli's official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first published and then, too late, deleted, writes Roberto Calenda on X.
"Reserves the right to take legal action"
The club chose not to fine players, something they initially considered doing.
"This causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the guy has suffered lately between media trials and fake news. We reserve the right to take legal action to protect Victor.
