Amine Gueriri on Tuesday chose to represent Algeria's national football team ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast early next year.

Rennes' Guerrey said on the social media platform X: "It is with pride that I announce the decision to join the Algerian national team."

"I will defend Algeria's shirt in spirit and body to raise the colours of our homeland globally and even help write other pages in its rich history," the 23-year-old added.

Gueriri played in the different age groups for the French national team, as he holds dual French and Algerian citizenship.
