When the Swedish Athletics Federation presented three Swedish runners to keep an eye on before Lidingöloppet, Carolina Johnson, Linköpings Gif, was not mentioned among them.

"It may not have been what everyone expected, but I still had the goal of reaching a top spot. The goal was still high up, maybe at the top," says Johnson, who snatched the initiative immediately and soloed in the women's category.

"Somehow I managed to get Sylvia out," continues Johnson, who had success in junior age with, among other things, an U20 European Championship silver as a 19-year-old in Eskilstuna in 2015 before injuries hampered her career.

She believes it may be possible to get under 15 minutes at 5,000 meters and down 30 minutes at 10,000 meters.

If that's not enough all the way to Paris and the Olympics, there is a European Championships in Rome in early June for the runner, who this past summer won two Swedish Championship medals, in the 10,000 meters and half marathon and also participated in Finnkampen's 5,000 meters where she set personal bests.
