Bayer Leverkusen remain on the road to success. At the start of the new Europa League season, the team won against BK Häcken 4-0 (2-0). As a result, the Bayer team remained unbeaten in their sixth competitive game of the season across all competitions. The goals were scored by Florian Wirtz (10th minute), Amine Adli (16th), Victor Boniface (66th) and Jonas Hofmann (70th).
The Bundesliga leaders dominated from the start and didn't have to wait long for their first goal. With a fine pass through the alley, Boniface served his teammate Wirtz, who lobbed the ball into the goal from around 15 meters (10th). No less worth seeing was Leverkusen's second goal. This time, King Transfer Granit Xhaka crossed into the penalty area and Adli executed with a volley from close range (16th).
In the previous season, Bayer Leverkusen narrowly failed in the semi-finals of the Europa League, when coach Xabi Alonso's team was defeated by José Mourinho's AS Roma. The overwhelmed Swedish representative Häcken did not put up so much resistance.
The new signings are convincing
It was not until shortly before the break that the Swedish champions had chances to shoot, but goalkeeper Matěj Kovář was able to defuse them. The 23-year-old, who arrived from Manchester United in the summer for just under five million euros, got match practice for the first time. Kovář could one day replace the now 33-year-old Lukáš Hrádecký in the Bayer goal. But it's not that far yet: Most recently, the veteran goalkeeper made an outstanding save in the 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich.
With the goals of the new signings Boniface (66th) and Hofmann (70th), the game was finally decided. And so the 4-0 win was also proof of Leverkusen's strong transfer summer.
