Spanish reports revealed that Barcelona talent Lamine Jamal decided to represent the "La Roja" team instead of his native Morocco, and is expected to be called by coach Luis de la Fuente, for the Cyprus and Georgia matches scheduled next month, in the European Cup qualifiers (Euro 2024).
The newspaper "Marca" that the secretary said, "yes" to the Spanish national team, noting that he will be an addition to the former world and European champions, because of his talent clearly shown during his participation with his team Barcelona, although he is only 16 years old.
The newspaper pointed out that representatives of the Spanish Federation recently met with the player and his family, in order to explain the future plan related to him, and are waiting for his final response to call him to the national team list.

"Despite Jamal's decision to represent Spain internationally, this will not preclude the possibility of playing for Morocco in the future, subject to certain conditions and based on FIFA regulations," the newspaper added.
According to the amendment approved by "FIFA" in 2020, the regulations give the right to players who participated in a maximum of 3 matches before they reached the age of 21, to play for another team after 3 years, from the last match in which they appeared with the first.
But there is only one case that completely abolishes this right: a player represents a team at the World Cup, at which point he will not be able to change his international nationality.
Given this rule, Lamine Jamal can play for Morocco in the future if he so decides, provided he does not play more than 3 matches, and that he waits 3 years for this step to become legal by law.
