The waves and tributes from Zlatan Ibrahimovic's farewell are still ongoing.

On Sunday, he said that his football career had come to an end and tributes poured in from all sides.

But a farewell from the Swedish Football Association will not happen – not yet.

On June 16, Sweden will face New Zealand at Friends Arena, but then the 41-year-old will not be celebrated.

"There are better opportunities. There is nothing planned for this gathering, says Jens T Andersson, national team manager at the Swedish Football Association, according to Expressen.

"On the one hand, it is too short of time, I have not been in contact with Zlatan and to my knowledge no one else has discussed this with him either, and on the other hand, there are better occasions than that window that will now have a farewell for him.
