Casper Ruud, who was in the final of the French Open last year, is through to the semifinals of this year's tournament. Rune gathered strength in the third set and levelled the match but all in all the Norwegian was one level bigger. Rune made a little too many simple mistakes, including five double faults in the first set.

"I'm really relieved. I tried to play without pressure but it's not easy. He plays very aggressively, luckily he didn't seem to feel completely good in the first two sets, where he made a lot of mistakes and I got a lot of free points," Rune said after the match.

The match on center court contained many well-played balls and especially one, with several "impossible" saves made the crowd and expert commentator Jonas Björkman amazed.

"That's an unbelievable ball, that's how they should be played," commented the Swedish legend.

"Think it's going to be a good match"

Ruud will now face German Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals tomorrow. The German was injured in last year's semi-final meeting with Rafael Nadal but is now back at the highest level.

"It's great to see him back in the semi-finals, he's had a tough year, I think it's going to be a good game.
