A3 basketball, which did not play in SBL Dam last year due to financial troubles, is now filed for bankruptcy by the Swedish Tax Agency. The reason is that the club has not been able to pay off its debts to the crown ogden of SEK 2,832,652.

According to the bankruptcy filing, the club lacks the assets to pay the foreclosure in full.

– We have offered different ways to pay this, but unfortunately the Swedish Tax Agency has not reacted positively to it. But we still want to have a dialogue with them so I have to wait to comment more, says Ulrik Berg, who has been given the assignment to wind up the club and speak on behalf of the club, to Västerbottens-Kuriren.

Legal proceedings against the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth

The big reason why the team could not play this year was that the club did not receive money from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth linked to short-term furloughs during the corona pandemic.

"We have had a legal process against the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth that the club eventually lost despite having decisions on payments, but because of the 'record' for the club, they do not want to do that according to the Administrative Court," Berg said.

As many as four teams, A3 Umeå, Borås (formed a new association, Sjuhärads Basketbollförening eds.anm) Helsingborg, Wetterbygden withdrew from the women's basketball league before the season.
