The long-awaited move of Borussia Dortmund midfield star Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid is imminent. This was confirmed by BVB.

The parties had reached an agreement in principle on the transfer of the England international shortly before. "The contractual details are now still to be coordinated and documented," it continued.

Real will pay a fixed transfer fee of 103 million euros for the Englishman if the transfer is realised. In addition, variable payments of up to 30 percent of the transfer sum may be due, which could bring Dortmund's total income to 137 million euros.

The midfielder is expected to undergo a medical examination in the coming days.

With Ousmane Dembélé, who moved from BVB to FC Barcelona in 2017 for around 140 million euros, only one player in Bundesliga history has brought in more money than Bellingham. Also in third place on this sales list is Jadon Sancho, a Dortmunder. The dribbler's departure to Manchester United flushed 2021 million euros into the club's coffers in the summer of 85.

Dortmund wants to reinvest

Bellingham joined the club in 2020 from English second division club Birmingham for around 25 million euros. With good performances, he increased his market value considerably. Even Liverpool FC, which was initially traded as the new Bellingham club, dropped out of the transfer poker weeks ago in view of the lavish transfer fee.

Bellingham is the sixth departure of the Bundesliga runners-up after Raphael Guerreiro, Mahmoud Dahoud, Luca Unbehaun, Felix Passlack and Anthony Modeste.

A high transfer fee for the Englishman could facilitate the search for an adequate replacement. "I think that we will reinvest about 60 to 65 percent of the transfer sums that we achieve in this period," Managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke recently announced in the "Bild".
