Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier close to the exit. According to AFP, the 56-year-old technician should be replaced at the end of the season despite the title of champion of France won. Several names are already circulating, such as that of the German Julian Nagelsmann.

Christophe Galtier will not make his second year of contract as coach of Paris Saint-Germain, we learned Monday from a source close to the negotiations confirming information from several media. Unsurprisingly, the 56-year-old technician will not go to the end of his contract despite winning the eleventh title of champion of France, as announced Saturday L'Equipe. Contacted by AFP, his lawyer did not wish to comment.

Asked Saturday about the subject after the defeat against Clermont (3-2) on the 38th and last day of the season, the technician had said to have an appointment with his leaders at the beginning of the week. "We will then see what decisions the management will make," he added, minutes after being booed by a part of the Parc des Princes during the celebrations of the 11th Parisian title.

Second half of the season unsatisfactory

Recruited last summer by football advisor Luis Campos, with whom he had already worked at Lille, Galtier is paying for the second half of his team's season. Because after a very successful start, without the slightest defeat, the game of his PSG has frayed and the club has suffered, in all competitions, ten defeats in 2023, failing in particular from the 1/8 finals of the Coupe de France and, above all, the Champions League, the main objective.

Galtier has repeatedly pointed to the influence of the calendar, with the World Cup held in the middle of the season and after which his team did not play as well. "The right analysis, which you do not want to make, is that there was a PSG before the World Cup, and a PSG post-World Cup, with very important players who for some have not played for 16, 17 matches," he said on the evening of the coronation of champion, in Strasbourg on the 37th day, allusion in particular to Neymar, injured since February.
