The Green Eagle course outside Hamburg has an unusual 73 strokes as a par and Forsström shares the lead with home player Maximilian Kiefer.

"I'm very pleased. I thought it was tricky in the wind, it was really windy and a lot of gusty winds so I'm very happy with my effort. It's a monster to track out there and it's important to avoid double bogeys. You will make bogeys, hopefully you will make more birdies," Forsström, who plays for AIK golf, told the DP World Tour.

Just over two weeks ago, Forsström became known to a larger audience after he won on the European Tour in Belgium, his first victory came as a 34-year-old.

"Then it was a bit that now you get hold of this, you're getting old. In a way, it was a bit of the last chance, he told SVT Sport at the time.
