Itinerary of a gifted woman

Debuting on the junior circuit, Mirra Andreeva is having an incredible 2021 season with 50 wins for only 11 losses which allows her to reach the eleventh place in the world in youth. Marked by injuries and a drop in diet, the young Russian played only 5 tournaments making quarter-finals at Roland-Garros and the US Open Junior. She lost in early January after a crazy match of 3:18 in the final of the Australian Open in youth against her compatriot Alina Korneeva. In April 2023, she achieved her best ITF ranking as the third best young player in the world.

Her results on the secondary circuit with her victories in Switzerland in Chiasso and Bellinzona will allow her to obtain an invitation to the Masters 1000 in Madrid in April 2023 where she will distinguish herself by eliminating without losing a set respectively, Leila Fernandez 50th in the world, Beatriz Haddad Maia 14th in the world and Magda Linette 21st in the world before falling in two sets (6-3, 6-1) against world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka.

"Djokovic won 22 or 23 Grand Slam titles? I want to go up to 25."

After her victory in the second round of Roland-Garros this Thursday against Diane Parry, the Russian teenager did not hide her ambitions when asked her goals in a press conference: "Djokovic has won 22 or 23 Grand Slam titles? I want to go up to 25." Since the retirement of Serena Williams who had 23 Grand Slam titles on the WTA circuit, it is the Polish Iga Swiatek who has recovered the torch of "the most successful player in Grand Slam" with victories in Paris in 2020, 2022 and the US Open in 2022.
