A frustrated Borussia Dortmund supporter accidentally caused a hedge fire while burning his fan scarf in Lemgo. Residents dialed the emergency call in the face of the flames, police said on Tuesday. When the officers arrived, the 55-year-old had already extinguished the fire himself. When questioned, he admitted on Saturday evening that he had set fire to his scarf for well-known reasons.

Shortly before, Borussia Dortmund squandered the chance to win the Bundesliga title with a 2-2 draw against FSV Mainz. On a dramatic matchday 34, FC Bayern Munich secured it for the eleventh time in a row, winning 2-1 in Cologne thanks to a late goal from Jamal Musiala.

The fans in Dortmund's Westfalenstadion gave their team long-lasting applause despite missing out on the title. The players expressed their gratitude for the support after the game.

The BVB supporter in Lemgo apparently took the missed chance of winning the championship title in a less sporting way. As a precaution, the police prohibited him from burning any other fan paraphernalia.
