Prior to the meeting, the E-sports Federation had high hopes for membership, but the Swedish Sports Board had insisted on rejecting the application.

Once the issue was raised at the national sports meeting in Uppsala, the member federations went against the national sports board.

Several representatives from other federations took to the podium and spoke in favor of e-sports becoming a member. Among other things, the martial arts profile Musse Hasselvall who warned that Swedish sport otherwise loses young potential members.

The decision was voted on where the e-sports federation was elected, by 108 votes to 71, and great applause erupted in the hall.

The Swedish Association for Functional Fitness was also voted in as a new member of the Foundation in less dramatic forms.

This means that the Swedish Sports Confederation now consists of a total of 73 member federations.
