Germany has surprised many and made it all the way to the final of the Ice Hockey World Championship – which is the national team's first since the new playoff format was introduced in 1992.

There, the big favorite Canada awaits.

But the fact is that the Germans have a fairly recent good memory against the Canadians in the back of their minds.

In the World Cup two years ago, Germany defeated Canada 3-1 in the group stage, so Moritz Seider and the gang have plenty of confidence ahead of the World Cup final.

"We've shown that we can beat Canada before," the Detroit Red Wings defenseman, who played that game, told SVT Sport.

How does it feel to play the World Cup final?

"It's unbelievable. You probably saw how we celebrated after the decisive goal. That speaks volumes. We are like a family and everyone is very happy. Now we are just one win away from winning gold," he said.

In the clip above, Moritz Seider describes how they will defeat Canada.

You can watch the World Cup final between Canada and Germany on SVT2, starting at 19.00.
