Starting at the head of the race, the Red Bull driver, who arrived in the Principality with the label of man to beat, was faithful to his rank and has never been worried by the competition. "Mad max" got his second victory on the streets of Monte-Carlo, the 39th of his career. In second place: the eternal Fernando Alonso, best result for the Spaniard with his Aston Martin team.

"Mad max" has hit again! Max Verstappen lived up to his status as two-time reigning world champion by winning the prestigious Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, ahead of Spain's Fernando Alonso and France's Esteban Ocon. He thus obtained his second victory in the streets of Monte-Carlo, the 39th of his career. The driver also returns to two lengths of the legend Ayrton Senna, in number of triumphs.

Third place in France

The Grand Prix had started slowly and then the rain came to play the troublemakers, which changed the game and offered motorsport fans a very nice end to the race. But what must be remembered is above all the magnificent performance of the Frenchman Esteban Ocon who obtains a prestigious third place. A third podium in Formula 1 for the Alpine driver. "It's a crazy emotion, I can't describe it. All weekend I had a huge support from everyone, people who told me 'Go Esteban we want to see you on the podium, you're going to be on the podium, we feel it'. And lo and behold, there was something different. So yes, it's just incredible and it's just the beginning, I hope," he told Canal Plus.

It had been 27 years since spectators had seen a Frenchman on the podium in Monaco, not since Olivier Panis in 1987. Behind the top three are the two Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, followed by Charles Leclerc, sixth. Formula 1 will also return to the Spanish lands of Barcelona next weekend.
