The podium will be ready against Borussia Dortmund in the most exciting Bundesliga finish in more than 10 years, as fans yearn for a first title in 11 years when they host Mainz on Saturday.

The Ruhr Valley side, last winning the league in 2012 under manager Jurgen Klopp, need that victory to be crowned on the last day of the season at its 81,<>-seat stadium and sold out.

Dortmund are two points ahead of Bayern Munich and the leaders know that they can be crowned even in the event of a draw or defeat, but this depends on Bayern's result against Köln.

But in Dortmund there is no talk of anything but victory.

Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kiel and captain of the 2012 champions said: "We just have to win once more."

"I basically have a good feeling, but I know we have to play well again and then we deserve the title. When the players take a bus heading towards the stadium to celebrate amid the greeting of the fans, it will motivate them."

A win over Mainz would mean a tremendous achievement for Dortmund coach Eden Terzic, who had a volatile season and his side looked almost out of the title race mid-season.

The title will be the biggest success for captain Marco Reuss, who has been plagued by injuries during long periods of his career, and although the 33-year-old is one of the most talented members of his generation, he failed to win the league title.

"He was facing accusations in the past that he never won the league, he regrets it and will do everything he can to become champions on Saturday, and he will fight for himself as well," Kiel said.

The atmosphere could be different in Munich as coach Thomas Tuchel, whose side suffered a shock 1-3 home defeat to RB Leipzig last week to squander top spot, is seeking to persuade his players not to give up.

Bayern lived an exciting experience in deciding the title in the last moments, in 2001 scored a goal in stoppage time on the last day of the season to snatch the title from Schalke.

Leaving the Bavarians out of the final day would be a risk.
