The matches continue at Porte d'Auteuil with the second day of qualifying for the Roland-Garros tournament. No less than fifteen French players were on the courts of Roland-Garros on Tuesday, but as Monday, the record of the players is mixed, even if the Blues have more assured compared to their male counterparts.

The second day of Roland-Garros qualifying ended on Tuesday evening with a mixed record again for the tricolors. Of the 15 Frenchmen running, only five managed to make it to the second round. After two days of qualifying, out of the 29 entries, 18 stopped as soon as they entered the competition, like Pierre-Hugues Herbert. The former doubles winner of Roland-Garros was beaten on Tuesday in two sets (7-6, 7-6), hung by the Russian Aslan Karatsev, semifinalist of the Masters 1000 of Madrid.

"The public is super present"

"You have to be positive and build on it to become a tennis player again, to chain the weeks," said the Frenchman at the microphone of Europe 1. But luck smiled on others, like Chloé Paquet, 181st player in the world, carried by an audience devoted to her cause. "On other Grand Slam tournaments, sometimes, at the level of qualifying, there are not necessarily people. And here we come, it's the beginning of Roland, and even if it's the qualifs, the public is super present, the classes are full. There is a great atmosphere, it's a lot of fun," said the Frenchwoman after her success against Spain's Rose Vicens Mas (6-4, 5-7, 6-2).

In total, three rounds are needed to reach the main draw of Roland-Garros. Last year, and it made a bad impression, girls and boys combined, only one Frenchman, Geoffrey Blancaneaux had left the qualifications.
