It was at the end of the first set that Mikael Ymer lost it completely. After losing an important point on his own serve to Frenchman Arthur Fils in Lyon's ATP 250 tournament, the 24-year-old went straight to the umpire's chair and the scenes that followed were bizarre.

Ymer smashed both the umpire's chair and tennis racket in a rarely seen rage while staring at the referee.

The match was interrupted to the tune of the crowd's boos and Ymer was dished shortly thereafter.

The tantrum was preceded by a referee dispute at the score of 5-5 when Ymer claimed that the referee had missed a ball from Fils was out, but the referee would not leave his umpire's chair to check on the ball mark.

Something that made Ymer start to boil.

"I've never seen a judge not want to look at a badge. Why don't you come down and check? Ymer shouted to the judge.

After Ymer's dishwashing, opponent Arthur Fils was interviewed on the court:

"It's strange. It's the first time I've seen anything like this. It's a good player and a good friend. I don't know. Now I'm just looking forward to the next round.
