Real Sociedad spoiled Barcelona's La Liga title celebrations among their fans after beating hosts 2-1 at Camp Nou on Saturday night on LaLiga matchday 35.

Xavi Hernandez's team won the title for the 27th time with four rounds to go after a 4-4 win over neighbours Espanyol last week.

After champions Barcelona had a passage of honour before kick-off, there was a feeling among the fans at the Camp Nou that the season was over and everyone waited for the celebrations after the final whistle.

But Sociedad were keen to disturb the atmosphere and took the lead quickly through Mikel Merino with a neat touch in the fifth minute.

Alexander Sorloth extended the visitors' superiority in the 72nd minute, while Robert Lewandowski scored an honorary goal for Barcelona from a close-range header in the 90th minute, extending his lead in the competition's scorers with 22 goals.

With 3 games to go, Sociedad tightened their grip on fourth place qualifying for the Champions League with 65 points, 5 points behind chasers Villarreal, fifth in the standings, who defeated Girona 2-1 earlier on Saturday.

Barcelona are 14 points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid, who face Valencia on Sunday, and Atletico Madrid are third with 69 points.

After the match, the ceremony was held to crown Barcelona with the Spanish league title.
