The mother of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr football team, has denied allegations of problems in the relationship between her son and Georgina Rodriguez.

Spanish and Portuguese media reports claimed last month that the Portuguese striker was fed up with his fiancée and may be on the verge of breaking up.

Georgina, 29, responded by denying the rift with Ronaldo in a social media post, which read: "A jealous person invents a rumor and the gossip spreads it and the idiot believes it."

Ronaldo's mother, Dolores Aveiro, stepped into the relationship between her son and his fiancée and described it as impeccable and described the allegations as lies while attending a store opening in her hometown of Madeira.

Aveiro, 68, told the press covering the event she was invited to in the island's capital, Funchail: "Everything that spreads lies ... Every man and woman argues and that's normal."

Cristiano's mother has already visited her son and his family in the Saudi capital Riyadh, where they now reside. The trip took place in February, shortly after her son and his family moved into their new home.

Among the allegations broadcast in Spanish media was a social television show that Ronaldo was fed up with Georgina because of the time he devoted to spending money at a Riyadh shopping mall.

Georgina spoke of her love for Ronaldo, whom she met in June 2016 after he entered the Gucci store in Madrid, where she worked, in the second recently released series of her hit Netflix show 'I am Georgina'.

In a Spanish television interview ahead of the release, Georgina described Ronaldo as "a wonderful father, a wonderful son, a brother, a friend, a partner, a boss and an employee, he is wonderful in every sense of the word."

"Sometimes we're at home eating and I look at it and think, I feel lucky to be the one he chose to create this wonderful family," she concluded.

Ronaldo, 38, and Georgina have lived together in multiple cities since their relationship began, moving from Madrid to Turin, then Manchester and, finally, Riyadh.
