Following media reports that Messi will leave PSG in the summer, wild protests erupted outside the headquarters of the French big club in Paris. Supporters were seen lighting up Bengalis, chanting their discontent and demanding the resignation of President Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

Hostile chants were also directed at players Lionel Messi, Marco Veratti and Neymar. In the latter's case, it went so far that a larger group of supporters gathered outside his home west of Paris. On social media clips, they can be heard chanting: "Neymar, go away!".

The club condemns the behaviour

The French big club is now tightening security around the club's training facility and outside the homes of the designated players.

"Paris Saint-Germain condemns the unacceptable and insulting acts carried out by a small group of individuals. Regardless of differences, nothing justifies such actions," the club said in a statement.

Neymar himself has spoken out on Instagram. There he writes a little philosophically: "Don't let people put you in their storm, let them be in your peace".

The Brazilian star, who is one of the world's most expensive footballers, has been injured since February and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
