Masanao Yoshida of the Red Sox hit a solo home run in the fifth against Blue Jays pitcher Yusei Kikuchi for the first time in the big leagues on the 2nd in his home game in Boston.

Yoshida, who entered the game as the No. 6 designated hitter, faced pitcher Kikuchi, who has won four straight games without a loss this season, for the first time in the second inning.

This at-bat was suppressed by pitcher Kikuchi in the second inning, but Yoshida hit a solo home run in the fifth to right-center in the second at-bat of the fourth inning.

Yoshida now has a 4-game hitting streak.

Meanwhile, Kikuchi, who gave up three runs by the fourth inning, walked off the mound with two runners on base in the fifth inning as the team rallied 2-5 and gave up one run on a dead ball and two hits in the fifth inning, and did not earn his fifth win.

Kikuchi threw four and one-third innings on the day, giving up five runs on nine hits, including two home runs.

Yoshida hit a timely hit to left field off his second pitcher in the fifth inning, going 4-for-3 with two RBIs and a 1-for-2 batting average.

The Red Sox won the game, 9-5.
