In an unexpected final and a great atmosphere, far from the social tension, the Toulouse won their first title in 66 years Saturday night in the Coupe de France against FC Nantes (5-1). The meeting, considered high-risk, took place without major incident.

The Toulousains made only one bite of FC Nantes (5-1) at the Stade de France Saturday night. The 106th edition of the France Cup was awaited by athletes but also by political observers. A meeting considered high risk, because of the presence of Emmanuel Macron in the stands. But the feared chaos did not happen.

The draconian security device deployed by Laurent Nunez has proven its worth. 3,000 police and gendarmes were mobilized around the Stade de France. There were no outbursts and the flow of supporters was controlled at the entrance and exit.

"We are here first to enjoy the match"

Even the arrival of the unions to distribute leaflets and whistles did not have an effect. The spectators were however ready to make their discontent heard before the match as explained by this supporter of the Canaries at the microphone of Europe 1. "We have the whistle and the red card. We're not going to go back to the stadium. We are not going to go to the confrontation with Macron. We will be heard with the few means we have to be heard and we will tell him what we think of his reform."

"But first we are here to enjoy the game. The opportunity is too good to make our President hear our opinion," he added.

Emmanuel Macron spared by supporters

Emmanuel Macron, who finally did not go on the pitch, was rather spared by the supporters. Only a few whistles were heard during the famous 49th minute.

It should be noted that a large part of the red cards and whistles were confiscated beforehand, not by the police but by stewards. Because the rules of the enclosure prohibit any leaflet or banner of a political, ideological or commercial nature.
