During Finnkampen 2019, Armand Duplantis jumped over 6 meters for the first time at home in Sweden.

After that, he has stood above the classic international for three straight years. But today, the Swedish Athletics Federation announced that Duplantis this year intends to participate in the competition, which this year will be decided at Stockholm Stadium.

"I'm really looking forward to Finnkampen, to be fighting for a Swedish victory at home. It will be really fun, he says in a press release.

"Means a lot"

The announcement is of course welcomed by head coach Kajsa Bergqvist.

"Finnkampen is primarily a team competition, where every point is worth the same. At the same time, it means a lot that our biggest stars want to be part of this team. The fact that Mondo establishes that he is involved at this early stage is important for the team. It is also fantastic news for both Finnkampen and the Swedish athletics public," she says.

Finnkampen will be held this year on September 2-3, one week after the final weekend at the World Championships in Budapest – where Duplantis competes on the last weekend.
