The Curling Mixed Doubles World Championship will feature a round-robin qualifying league with 20 teams divided into two groups, with the top three teams from each group advancing to the semifinals and playoffs.

World No. 2 Chiaki Matsumura and Yasuma Tanida participated in the Japan tournament and defeated Spain 3-13 in their eighth qualifying round match on 27th.

In the ninth and final game of the qualifying round, they faced the Swiss pair ranked third in the world, and Japan scored five points by the third end and two in the fourth end, leading the first half 8-7.

Japan gave up one point in the fifth end, but conceded two runs in the sixth end, where they conceded the loss and lost 5-9.

As a result, Japan finished the preliminary round in first place with a record of 3 wins and 3 loss, and advanced to the semifinals, where they were confirmed as 5th place or higher, the highest finish ever in this event.

The semi-finals will take place on the 4th, and the Japan will face the winners of Estonia and Norway.
