Since last year, Jenny Rissveds has focused on road cycling in pairs with her mountain bike.

Last weekend she also made her debut in another genre, namely competing against men.

"Right now, I see road cycling as a complement to mountain biking. I benefit greatly from the speed I get on the road, where you have to push for longer periods and I have great use of that then in the mounatin bike. So it's great that I get the chance to compete internationally there as well," she says.

"Want to gain further experience"

The competition in the Czech Republic starts on Thursday 27 April and runs all weekend.

– What I think is so fun about that particular competition is that it will be a team competition. We drive as a team and help each other. A podium is not an individual one, but it is the merit of the whole team. You don't take a podium shot without the whole team doing their part. So it's a very cool experience to drive with such a close-knit group and share everything," says Rissveds.

– My individual goal is to gain further experience in road cycling, cluster driving and team driving.

In addition to Rissveds, Sweden's team consists of Emilia Fahlin, Ebba Grankvist, Tilde Hammarström, Karin Söderqvist and Felicia Bengtsson.

"We definitely have a good team where Jenny and Emilia are strong cards. Then it remains to be seen what the competition looks like. We believe that there will be some really sharp cyclists who will fight for the overall victory. We'll see – but this will definitely be interesting", says head coach Lucas Persson in a press release.
