The then 22-year-old Rissveds won Sweden's first female Olympic gold medal on a bicycle and broke through overnight, an attention that became demanding and depression and eating disorders followed, something she has been completely open about.

This weekend she competed against men in road cycling in the pace of Kinnekulle with good results. In just over a year, it will be time for the Olympics in Paris.

"I'm not going to say that I'm investing so much against it, or I do, but it's nothing special, I'm going as usual. Right now I'm focusing on this season that I'm going into now and that in turn will be a build-up for the Olympics, says Rissveds.

But there is no Olympic ticket handed out yet.

"I hope to go"

"That upload will come next year. I'm not even selected, but I'm hoping to go and I'd love to do it," says Rissveds.

She competes in both road cycling and mountanbike but knows what she wants to focus on.

"If I get selected, it's first and foremost in mountain biking and then we'll see if I meet the criteria," says Rissveds, who finished 14th at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and felt relieved that her time as Olympic champion was over.

Last week, SOK changed the criteria from competing for a top 8 spot to the top 12 to be considered for an Olympic start.

Do you think you will be selected?

"If I think I'm going to do it, I don't know, but I can do it if I want to do it," Rissveds said in a thoughtful response.
