Maja Stark was in a good position for a good finish at the Chevron Championship when the final lap began today at The Club at Carlton Woods. And it started really well with a lowered birdie putt on the first but then came the collapse. Triple bogey and double bogey.

Maja Stark was frustrated yesterday after three rounds of good play but where nothing went in the holes on the greens.

– Frustrating. Nothing wants to go in," Stark told SVT Sport, joking that the holes must be smaller than they usually are.

On the first hole today, she got revenge when she sank a super long putt of over 20 meters on the first green.

Then it looked good. But then came the problems.

On the second, the tee shot ended up in a fairway bunker and from there Stark hit the second shot straight into a hefty pine bush. She found the ball unplayable under a lot of branches, was forced to drop in a semi-difficult position and in the end all that remained was to chalk a seven (triple bogey) into the scorecard.

On the third, Stark missed the green with the tee shot and then duffed the chip. The next chip was much better, but what did it do when she then still missed the short bogey putt.

The chances of a top spot disappeared there and then.

But Maja still came back, responded with a birdie directly on the 4th, another on the 7th and on the 8th she put the second eagle of the week. A real roller coaster round for Stark who, after two more bogeys at the end, went in four over par for the day and two over par overall.

Stark boiled with anger as she rolled in the final putt on the 18th hole.

After the round, Stark, who finished tied for 37th on a total of +2, went straight through the interview area and did not want to answer questions.

Power finished weakly

Linnea Ström also had a heavy final lap. A birdie on the final hole was the only joy on a scorecard, which featured two double bogeys, and five bogeys, for 8 over par overall. Power will finish in about 50th place.

"It's sour. It was tough today. I couldn't quite figure out the wind. I threw away a lot of punches out there. That's how golf is, up and down, says Ström, who finished 56th, to SVT Sport.
