The finalists of the Marc-Vivien Foé Prize which rewards the best African player in the France football championship (Ligue 1) are now known. Among them are Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi and Lensois Seko Fofana.

The Ivorian Seko Fofana, defending champion, the Moroccan Achraf Hakimi or the Congolese Chancel Mbemba are among the eleven finalists for the Marc-Vivien Foé Award for best African player of the season unveiled Monday and whose winner will be announced on May 30. Elected last year, the Lensois captain Fofana is among the favorites of the trophy awarded by Radio France Internationale (RFI) and France 24, after another great season where the Blood and Gold are candidates for the podium.

Jury of 100 former players

Semi-finalist of the World Cup with the Atlas Lions, the full-back of PSG Hakimi has also had a great season, like the very offensive defender of OM Mbemba or the Nigerian striker Terem Moffi, spent this winter from Lorient to Nice.

The prize created in 2009 is awarded by a jury composed of nearly 100 former players and journalists specializing in French and African football. It is named after former Cameroon international RC Lens Marc-Vivien Foé, who died in the middle of a match of cardiac arrest during a 2003 Confederations Cup match in Lyon.
