The pilot Julio César Castrillo and his co-driver, Francisco Javier Álvarez, died this Saturday after suffering an accident when they participated in the Villa de Tineo Rally, when they left the road with their Citroën DS3 N5 and hit a tree in the penultimate section of the test.

The test, valid for the Championship of Asturias, had 86 vehicles registered and was suspended after the accident, according to a spokesman for the organization.

After knowing the consequences of the accident, the president of the Principality, Adrián Barbón, has contacted the mayor of Tineo, José Ramón Feito, to convey his sorrow for the death of the two motorists.

"A lot of pain with this terrible news, which leaves us all sunk," he said on his Twitter account.
