On the third day of the World Figure Skating Championships, the pair held a free skating session in the second half of the pairs, and Japan pair of Riki Miura and Ryuichi Kihara set new personal bests to finish in second place.

The third day of the World Figure Skating Championships held in Tokyo is the 3th, the third day of the competition, and the second half of the pairs and men's singles free skating competitions will be held.

Among them, Miura and Kihara, who won all major international competitions this season, including last month's World Championships, and are nicknamed "Rikuryu" competed.

The two of them scored a twist lift at the beginning, but in the next three consecutive jumps, Miura lost his balance on the first jump and could not connect, making a mistake that resulted in a big point deduction.

Still, he stayed focused from here, and his brilliant lift was the highest rated level four, and in the following World Championships, he made a mistake in the triple Salcoe.

In the second half of the performance, he performed each technique without fail, smoothly scoring the final point and the slow jump of the three-turn loop, and performed gracefully until the end with minimal mistakes.

The "Rikuryu" pair finished second in the free with a score of 15.2, which once again broke the personal best set at the World Championships.

In first place was the American pair Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier, who scored 3.1, the highest score in the world this season.

"Rikuryu" Pair Looking Back on the Season

Rirai Miura said, "I had a peak at the World Championships last month and it was really difficult to improve my condition from there. We made some big mistakes, but I think it was me and our growth that allowed us to succeed in the other elements. I had a tough time this season, but I'm really glad I was able to run through it."

In addition, KIHARA Ryuichi said with a calm expression, "I was able to perform well and it was good that I was able to start the season well, even though it was a difficult start to the season due to Miura's injury."

Looking ahead to next season, Miura said, "Our goal is to combine both the short program and the free program, and to exceed 145 points in the free program, and we will do our best to get everything together next season to exceed 145 points."
