A selection meeting was held for the Japan archery team for next year's Paris Olympics, and six men's and women's national team members were selected, including Takaharu Furukawa, who won two bronze medals at the Tokyo Olympics, and Azusa Yamauchi, who represented the Tokyo Olympics.

The selection meeting, held at the venue in Tokyo's Koto Ward, will select three representatives from 7 men and women to compete for a spot in next year's Paris Olympics and Japan to compete for the World Championships to be held in July and the Asian Games to be held in September.

Among them, the men's team participants included Furukawa and Yuki Kawada, who won two bronze medals in the team and individual categories at the Tokyo Olympics.

On the 9th, the final day of the three-day selection session, Furukawa, who had been at the top so far, faced off against Kawada, who was in second place, in a recurve using a common bow.

Furukawa scored goals with precision from his stable form, defeated Kawada, and was selected as the top overall representative based on the total of the goals scored from the previous day.

In the men's competition, NAKANISHI Ayaya and SAITO Fumiya of Japan University of Physical Education were also included in the national team.

On the other hand, on the women's side, Yamauchi, who represented the Tokyo Olympics, topped the overall rankings, while Tomomi Sugimoto, who won the gold medal in the women's team at the previous Asian Games, and Satsuki Noda made the national team.

Yamauchi said, "First of all, I am relieved, but my form has stabilized since the Tokyo Games, so I want to get good results."

The 6-year-old Furukawa, who will compete in the Paris Olympics for the sixth consecutive Games, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "My goal is to win a gold medal at the Paris Games, and I want to earn a quota at the World Championships not only as an individual but also as a team."
