Hilda Svensson's successful season continues. After the World Cup silver with the U18 national team in January, she has been given the chance with the Women's Crowns and it is safe to say that she has taken it. There were two goals during the Euro Hockey Tour in February and in the World Cup opener against Switzerland four days ago she scored the only goal of the game.

In today's World Cup opener against Germany, she continued on this path.

In fact, it only took ten seconds for her to score in her championship debut after intercepting a bad pass from a Switzerland defender and sending the puck into the goal.

"I just try to stay in between and then she hits it on my blade, so just take it and shoot," Svensson told SVT Sport after the first period that ended 1-1.

Sweden were big favourites beforehand, but it was Germany who led the game in the first period, thanks in large part to three power-play opportunities, and at the start of the second they managed to score both 2-1 and 3-1 before it was time for Svensson to step up again.

This time she found the roof of the net with a well-placed wrist shot.

"Oh, she's good. She is the youngest in the team together with Ebba Hedqvist and it is again she who shows the way, she shoots high up and as she does it. Hilda Svensson, wow! says SVT's commentator Chris Härenstam.

But the Women's Crowns never got any closer than that, despite being big favourites beforehand, and in the end they lost the match 6–2.
