The president of UEFA, the Slovenian Aleksander Ceferin, considers that the situation of FC Barcelona is "exceptionally serious" by the 'Negreira case' of possible corruption, and that it has not prescribed for UEFA, as he says in an interview with a newspaper in his country.

"Judging from what I am informed, the situation is exceptionally serious. So serious, that it seems to me that this is one of the most serious cases in football since I have dealt with it," Ceferin told Slovenian sports Ekipa.

The Slovenian, who hopes to be re-elected this week in Lisbon for another four-year term at the head of UEFA, declined to go into details of the case, especially since those issues, he said, are dealt with by an independent disciplinary committee.

However, he stressed that, although the case is time-barred as far as the Spanish League is concerned, proceedings are ongoing at the level of the Spanish prosecutor's office. "And the same goes for UEFA, since nothing has expired in our organization," Ceferin warned.
