La Liga leaders Barcelona are close to breaking the record for fewer goals conceded in a season in Europe's top five leagues.

The Catalan team continues successfully the campaign to regain the "LaLiga" title, which has been absent from its coffers since the 2018-2019 season, after a great victory over its host Ilichi with a clean quadruple in the 27th round of the competition.

Since the beginning of the current league, German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has conceded only 9 goals, while Barca's attack scored 53 goals.

Ter Stegen also managed to keep 20 clean sheets in the same number of rounds, which is unprecedented in the history of the Spanish championship.

After Chelsea, his compatriot and neighbour in London is Arsenal, who conceded 17 goals in the 1998-1999 season.

Third place went to a Spanish team, Deportivo La Coruña, who conceded 18 times in the 1993-1994 season, the same number of goals conceded by Atletico Madrid in the 2015-2016 season.

Ter Stegen and his team-mates must protect the net as much as possible if they want to break the Blues' record.

Barcelona top the La Liga table with 71 points, 12 points behind rivals Real Madrid, who won six clean sheets over Valladolid.
